Fully renovated Stone Village House:
The house is situated on a pedestrian road where the silence of the sun is only broken by the sound of the swallows – La rue des Artisans. It offers 85m2 of habitable space (it’s a 3 bedroom cottage if square metres mean nothing to you!) in the ruins of the ramparts of the ancient castle. These stones are literally thousands of years old!!
Ground Floor:
The façade has been completely restored to highlight the exposed stone and the wooden beams over the windows and door. On a hot summer’s day, upon entering the property through the solid wood front door you experience a very welcome feeling of coolness. The hallway is of tomettes (square red tiles) many centuries old, and regional to Languedoc Roussillon.
Opposite you is the lounge. The walls in old stone take their colour from a chalk plaster and have several nooks and crannies allowing you to personalise the decoration. On the floor, as in the kitchen and dining room the light tiles provide a rustic feel to the room along with the exposed wooden beams. In a corner of the room you will find sockets for a TV and telephone.
If on entering the hallway you turn to the right you will find the dining room. There is a large window to the front, allowing light to flood in whilst retaining the rooms coolness in summer. Like the salon, the walls are exposed stone and the ceiling has exposed wooden beams. A large table in here would allow you to have large gatherings of friends or family.
You then arrive at the kitchen which has a large amount of work surface and space for a dishwasher and plenty of space for more cupboards should they be required.
If on entering you turn to your left you take the stairs made from old stone up to the first floor.
First Floor:
Arriving on the solid oak wooden landing you have opposite you a charming bedroom with pine parquet flooring which works well with the stone walls and wooden beams. A window of coloured glass floods the room with light.
Further along the landing you turn to the left and find the bathroom. The walls are tiled in white up to the ceiling, the floor is blue like the Mediterranean. The spa bath offers an opportunity for relaxation. For those who prefer it, there is a seperate dedicated shower. For everyone’s comfort the toilet is separate from the bathroom.
Through the corridor to the right you will find a bedroom with white painted walls and ceiling. An additional small 'room' accessed off of the landing has provision for a washing machine and it is here you will find the hot water tank.
Second Floor:
You come back on yourselves and taking the miller’s ladder arriving on the second floor. Here you will find a large bedroom with oak floors, stone walls and exposed beams. A corner office has points for the telephone and television.
The roof is brand new with a 10 year guarantee. All plumbing and electrics have been replaced in the course of the renovation and the heating is by individual electric radiators – all new.
